This week, Dr. David Calcagno of Calcagno & Rossi Vein Treatment Center was a guest on ABC27 TV’s “Good Day PA!” to discuss a few of the complications of vein disease.
Dr. Calcagno described the effects of what happens to varicose veins that are ignored for far too long. As a progressive medical condition, venous reflux — or vein disease — can cause worse conditions such as:
- Stasis dermatitis, which can cause inflammation, heaviness, achiness and tireness in your legs and ankles.
- A venous ulcer, where the inflammation from the white blood cells that causes your skin to die, causing a sore that can take months or years to heal.
- Superficial phlebitis, which is a surface clot that can be quite painful and can act like a deep vein clot.
He concluded by saying that if you have any of these conditions, you can call Calcagno & Rossi Vein Treatment Center to schedule an appointment so that he and his partner, Dr. John Rossi, can diagnose the severity of your venous disease. All of these conditions are treatable –– and there’s an upcoming Free Varicose Vein Screening on March 25th and March 26th, from Noon to 7:00 pm at their Mechanicsburg offices.
